9 Printing, Binding, and Distributing ManualsOnline PublishingAfter you’ve created your online manual, proofread it, and tested it with your audience, you’re ready to publish. You’ll need access to a file transfer protocol (FTP) server at the site where the manual will be published. You’ll also need a user ID and password. Once you have access, you’ll simply transfer the files from your computer to the server, and the content will be updated. Some manuals are intended for use within an organization or department only, and others are meant to be available to a wider audience. If your organization has an intranet, or internal Internet, documents published on it will not be accessible to anyone browsing the Internet. Talk to your network administrator if you need more information about security access levels for your intranet. |
