Sidebar Text

Sidebar text is any text that is placed in the margin beside the text.

Sidebar text is typically used for the following types of information:

  • commentary on the text
  • key concepts
  • definitions of technical terms
  • quotations
  • tips
Use a different typeface and type size for sidebar text so the reader will know that it’s not part of the text.
