Sentence Length and Syntax

Structure your sentences using a simple subject-verb-object sentence order.

Example

Cats hate dogs.
(subject-verb-object)

Dogs are hated by cats.
(object-verb-subject)

By sticking to a subject-verb-object sentence order, you avoid using the passive voice, use fewer words, and your sentence is easier to understand.

Keep your sentences short. The longer your sentence is, the more difficult it is to grasp its meaning. If your sentence is longer than 30 words, consider rewriting it.
